Hi, everyone:
As we knew that for selecting asphalt binder, the design pavement
temperatures can be obtained from direct measurement or can be calculated
from air temperature data. Does anyone know why the following Superpave
formula does not take project elevation into account?
T(20mm) = [T(air)-0.00618Lat^2+0.2289Lat+42.2](0.9545)-17.78
where T(20mm) = pavement temp at a depth of 20 mm in centigrade,
T(air) = max. average high air temp during the hottest 7-day
period in centigrade,
Lat. = project latitude in centigrade.
