Have never heard of this preparation procedure being used when batching
laboratory aggregate portions for mix design purposes. Appears that if
done, the absence of fines in the mix design specimens would not correspond
to the plant mixture as this would effect the voids calculations and the
asphalt content would most likely appear to be on the dry side.

We batch a Dry Sample in the lab then do a washed gradation on it to get a
correction factor for the #100 & #200 seems to work good we are getting very
consistent Gse & Bulks
